REV. JAY L. JACKSON
Pastor Jackson is a native of Tampa, Florida where he was raised in the West Tampa area formerly known as North Boulevard Homes. He is currently the husband of Lisa Jackson, and father of three
sons, Joshua, Luke, and Gabriel.
Pastor Jackson has been a member of Mt. Pleasant since early childhood. He was baptized on April 17, 1976 by Rev. George W. Mitchell who was Mt. Pleasant’s second pastor from 1936 to 1982. As a youth, he participated in the Youth Choir, Youth Ushers, and as Junior Sunday School Superintendent and Assistant Youth Sunday School Teacher. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from The Citadel, the Military College of the South, in Charleston South Carolina, and starting a professional career in the insurance industry, Pastor Jackson returned to Tampa and answered God’s call to the ministry in 1995 while under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. C. T. Kirkland who was Mt. Pleasant’s third pastor from 1983 to 2024.
As a minister of the gospel, Pastor Jackson served as the Sunday School Superintendent and Evangelism Ministry Leader while earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree of Theology and Master Degree of Theology from Christian Faith College in 1997 and 1999 respectively. He served at Mt. Pleasant until called in April 2007 to pastor the Mt. Olive M. B. Church family in Lakeland, Florida. Pastor Jackson remained there until the Lord brought him back to Mt. Pleasant in January 2024 to serve as pastor.
Those that know Pastor Jackson, know that he is passionate about God’s word, the support of the family unit, seeking the unsaved of this world for Christ, and the edifying of the body of Christ.
